For the first 6 months we didn't bark, which kind of freaked mom out. Although she knew she wasn't adopting guard dogs she was hoping that we would be vocal if there was an intruder. Instead of barking, when we heard something scary we would run under the pantry in the kitchen to hide.
There would be no barking but a chorus of hiccups as that's what one does when they are scared, right?
Then one day I found my bark and bellowed out the most horrendous sound that would make any scary person turn and run. I'm not afraid anymore. No more hiding under the pantry and no, it's not just because I don't fit anymore.

Hi! That's so great that you found your bark. I found my very early on and love to practice in the mornings when I see other doggies that I don't know. Stay brave!

That's interesting. When my mom fosters a dog she can depend on them not barking for 2-3 days then they make up for it after that--but 6 months! Wow. Glad you found your voice.

Thank you so much for visiting! Yes, we've found our bark and we now use it many, many, many times a day.
